Welcome to the official launch blog of Gut, Heart and Soul! Today is National Wear Red Day, a day we celebrate all the heart warriors out there.
Cardiovascular disease is the number 1 killer of women (source: heart.org) and something I have lived with in a thankfully very minor way since I was a teenager. I am a lucky member of the statistics. I have family members and friends of children who have had heart surgeries way too young, but we are all so thankful that the knowledge and ability exists to have saved their precious lives.
I decided to launch Gut, Heart, and Soul today, National Wear Red Day in honor of the special day and to help bring attention to the cause.

What can you do to help spread the word? There are great ideas on The 2024 American Heart Month Activation Guide including some easy to do tasks like wearing red, spreading the word about the day (and sharing this blog would be much appreciated too!) and donating to wearredday.org. Some more long-term goals that you can consider are learning CPR (hands-only is the easiest, but becoming fully certified makes you a rock star in my book!), getting a cardiology check-up, and making sure the women (and men!) in your life are getting the appropriate cardiac care they need.
Today, I honor all those who have any type of cardiovascular disease or malformation and all those who have passed on from heart disease.
Gut, Heart, and Soul has been created to share my story of my heart journey, my connective tissue disorder journey, self-care, helpful resources, and so much more. I am thankful you have found this blog. Please check out the rest of the website and reach out to me if there are any things you would like to see featured, or if you would like to be considered for a guest contributor for a future post to share your own health journey.
Please consider a donation today to the Gut, Heart, and Soul Wear Red Day Fundraiser!
