Three territories and ten provinces make up the beautiful country of Canada. We have primarily visited the eastern part of the country to date, with a goal to explore the beautiful Canadian Rockies before we let too much time slip away.
The provinces we have had a chance to explore so far are Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. We have found several gems along our adventures - some are described on the Couples Travel page.
Our top recommendations for the parts of Canada we have experienced so far, in no particular order:

Nova Scotia is such an amazing place with Cape Breton Island as the top of the province, home of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. A must do is driving the park's Cabot Trail. There are several scenic overlooks and wonderful hikes of varying lengths throughout the park. Definitely stop along the eastern coastal overlooks, that is where we spotted a large group of Harbor Seals! We also headed down to Halifax, Peggy's Cove, and Lunenburg. If you're a fan of hand-crafted art, definitely stop at Peggy's Cove for the light house and the artist village. In the blog post about our travels so far in Mexico, I mentioned timing your trip for the tunnel tours in Cholula. We typically forget to look up the best time to go somewhere, but it just so happened that when we visited Lunenburg (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) we happened to coordinate with the arrival of the Bluenose II. We highly recommend checking out the boats in the harbor and the Fisheries Museum, as well as eating at the Salt Shaker Deli & Inn.

Since I was a little girl, I have wanted to go to Prince Edward Island. My dream finally came true, and I am so thankful I was able to visit. Not only for the well-known Green Gables Heritage Site (trust me, do all the things - all the walks, all the parts!), but there are so many other gems on this island. The Bottle House attraction on the western coast is so unique and a great quick stop. For our novelty t-shirt and ice cream loving friends, a trip to COWS Creamery is a must do. They have non-dairy options for anyone with food intolerances like me. For water lovers, we recommend Cape Breton National Park for a more traditional sand beach experience, or for a little something different, Argyle Shore Provincial Park has amazing red cliffs!
And, because sometimes you hear advice that you aren't sure if it is true or not, we will reinforce - the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is the best side! Found in southwestern Ontario, there are many more things to experience, and the view of the water is, in our opinion, unmatched. We did happen to go over Easter one year, and maybe that wasn't the best decision. So again, planning your trips for the season are important to get the most out of your visit. As an avid "When Calls the Heart" fan, I had to make a stop in Hamilton (cue all the Canadians' groans here) and while the city is definitely industrial, there are some nice spots to be found, such as Dundurn Castle.
